The Women on Boards event is an annual panel discussion which educates and prepares women to serve on boards of directors.
Our panelists are business leaders who have the experience serving on for-profit and not-for-profit boards.
Topics of discussion include:
- Being an effective board member
- What boards are looking for in board candidates
- How to position yourself to get on a board
- How to transition from serving on non-profit boards to for-profit boards
Women on Boards is about making changes in the boardroom. The event started in Minneapolis in 2002 and later expanded to Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, Dallas, San Francisco and Atlanta. |
Here are some facts:
The role of women on boards continues to evolve, as has all other leadership roles for women in business. In today's corporate climate of increased scrutiny of board governance, Board of Directors are being held more accountable than ever. Board composition is being closely watched. CEOs and directors are frequently broadening their search for new board members to include women and minorities.
Currently, women represent only 14.7% of the membership of Fortune 500 company boards, but new expectations for board members of all organizations are creating new possibilities for women.
